The 1931 Hawkeye Truck
What Few Collectors know is their favorite
Hawkeye Truck was originally planned as a
1931 Dodge Truck

For reasons only know to  ERTL'S  the plans for the 1931 DODGE Truck
were scraped, the dies retooled and the truck released as a 1931 Hawkeye Truck

Pictured Above are the Different Prototype 1931 Dodge Trucks Produced
The 1931 Dodge Truck looked pretty much like the '31 Hawkeye Truck
with it's long nose and upright radiator shell. Same front bumper and windshield.
The cap on both trucks are made of plastic and the wheels have
six-spokes fronts and eight-spokes rears

The BIG Change was on the cab itself.

They eliminated the small window behind the door shown on the 1931 Dodge Truck
with the dies retooled without the window this truck was now called the 1931 Hawkeye Truck .

If you have ever purchased a 1931 Hawkeye Wrecker,
you'll notice the picture on the box has the rear side window, but the wrecker itself does not.
My guess is ERTL just goofed on that one and put the wrong picture on the box.
They did get the printing "1931 Hawkeye Wrecker" printed correct.
THE 1931 DODGE TRUCK IS ONE OF ERTL'S RAREST TRUCKS AND BEST KEPT SECRETS ~
In 1990 Ertl’s was making plans to produce a 1931 Dodge truck,
but because of a licensing problem the plans for the 1931 DODGE Truck
were scraped, the dies retooled and the truck was released as a 1931 Hawkeye Truck
